CVM Revises Extralabel Use Guide for Medicated Feed

FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) 12/2 issued a revised compliance policy guide, effective immediately, on the extralabel use of medicated feed for minor species (animals other than cattle, horses, swine, chickens, turkeys, dogs and cats). According to a CVM Update, the revision provides additional guidance to FDA field personnel on how to address the extralabel use of both over-the counter and veterinary feed directive drugs in medicated feed for minor species and to avoid potential confusion and harm to minor species requiring treatment with certain antimicrobial new animal drug products converting from the former to the latter.
