De Novo Pathway for Neuro, Physical Medicine Devices

An 8/27 CDRH Webinar explored for developers and manufacturers of neurological and physical medicine devices the potential use of the de novo pathway to market new medical devices for which there is no legally marketed predicate device.

CDRH Office of Neurological and Physical Medicine Devices director Carlos Pena said the program was intended to provide instructions to review the neurological and physical medicine devices under the new medical program, the de novo pathway benefit analysis, a case study, and a discussion on engaging with FDA through the presubmission process.

He stressed the need for sponsors to contact the agency to engage in the presubmission process and get more information and more interaction with FDA to help move products to the marketplace.
