Desert Alchemist Selling Misbranded Unapproved New Drugs: FDA

FDA says its review of the Etsy.com Web site maintained by Desert Alchemist, Tucson, AZ, indicates that the firm takes orders for eight products that are considered to be drugs under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act because they are intended for use in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease. A 12/4 Warning Letter lists examples of claims made for the products that establish their intended use as drugs. It also indicates that the products are misbranded.

The company was told to respond with a list of specific steps it has taken to correct the violations, with documentation of each step and a timetable for completion.
