Device Performance Criteria for 4 Dental Devices

Federal Register notice: FDA is making available four final device-specific guidance documents for the Safety and Performance Based Pathway. They address performance criteria of air-powered dental handpieces and air motors, dental ceramics, dental impression materials, and dental cements. Under the pathway, a new device could come to market without FDA reviewing data from direct comparison testing between it and a predicate device if the new device meets the level of performance of an appropriate predicate device.
