Dewei Medical Equipment has recalled its DNA/RNA Preservation Kits because the products were distributed to U.S. customers without FDA authorization, clearance, or approval. “This means there is a risk for false negative, false positive, or misinterpretation of results if these products are used to detect SARS-CoV-2 or other viruses,” a [recall notice](https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/medical-device-recalls/dewei-medical-equipment-co-recalls-dnarna-preservation-kits-are-not-authorized-cleared-or-approved?ref=fdaweb.com) says. The kits are inactivated viral transport media that are used for the collection, preservation, and transportation of clinical samples that will be tested for viruses like Covid-19.
