# DoJ Focusing on Firms’ Financial Links: Lawyers

> Six Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom attorneys say the Justice Department appears to be moving away from enforcement actions against off-label promotion practices and toward the financial and commercial relationships between healthcare providers and companies. Writing in an online blog [post](http://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=7188dc33-a4ad-4da5-a7d3-d93259041630&ref=fdaweb.com), the attorneys says that in 2016 they expect the department “to continue focusing on financial relationships with physicians and that recent DoJ guidance may spur an increased effort to hold individuals criminally and civilly responsible in these investigations. Additionally, the unrelenting flow of *qui tam* lawsuits means federal enforcement agencies will continue to investigate allegations that providers and others submitted false claims for payments to federal healthcare programs.”
