Dr. Reddy’s Recalls Shattering Phytonadione Ampules

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has recalled four lots of phytonadione injectable emulsion, 10 mg/mL single-dose ampules due to the potential for ampules to break and shatter upon opening. According to a recall notice, the company has received reports of cuts and lacerations from breakages. “There may be a reasonable probability of flying glass injuring skin, eye and/or other parts which could result in either temporary or permanent injury,” it says. Phytonadione injectable emulsion is indicated for treating coagulation disorders which are due to faulty formation of factors II, VII, IX and X when caused by Vitamin K deficiency or interference with Vitamin K activity.
