Draeger Recalls Perseus Anesthesia Device

Draeger Medical has recalled (Class 1) its Draeger Perseus A500 Anesthesia Workstation due to the potential for an unexpected shutdown while operating on battery power. Last month, the company sent consignees an urgent medical device recall notification about the problem and the possible loss of ventilation if a shutdown occurred, according to a recall notice. Consignees were also instructed to either use an emergency ventilation bag or apply manual ventilation with the Perseus using provided instructions. “Consignees are to perform a battery test on all affected devices in their inventory per the provided instructions in the recall notification,” the notice says.
