# Early Alert on : GE HealthCare Portrait Core Monitor Software

CDRH is issuing an [Early Alert ](https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/medical-device-recalls-and-early-alerts/what-early-alert?ref=fdaweb.com)after becoming aware that GE HealthCare issued a letter alerting affected customers of updated use instructions for Portrait Mobile Monitoring Solutions devices operating on certain version of Portrait Core Services software.

The alert recommends that users ensure “appropriate alternative monitoring is established for patients before starting a software update.” It notes that devices with the affected software may continue to be used. 

GE HealthCare stated that during a software update at a facility, some patients who were monitored on the devices were removed from the Portrait monitoring system. “In addition, all alarm settings may be reset to factory defaults following the updates,” it adds. “In this event, the device will not follow the alarm settings previously configured for each patient or care area.”
