EIND Application MAPP

CDER has issued a Manual of Policies and Procedures (MAPP) on the application process for individual patient expanded access for emergency use through the new EIND (emergency investigational new drug) application for licensed doctors. The MAPP says that due to the urgency of such situations, CDER will review EIND requests immediately upon receipt. Requests may be received by telephone, fax, or other means of electronic communication. The Center recommends that communications outside of usual business hours go through the agency emergency call center, which is operational 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Decisions to authorize or deny emergency access will be communicated by telephone.
