EOS Imaging Hip Surgical Planning Software Cleared

FDA has cleared an EOS Imaging 510(k) for its hipEOS 3.0 surgical planning software. The surgical planning software for total hip arthroplasty is part of the company’s EOSapps suite of online 3D surgical planning solutions (spineEOS, hipEOS, kneeEOS). The hipEOS 3.0 is intended to simulate the patient’s hip range of motion based on EOS functional standing and seated exams to allow physicians to visualize and anticipate impingement and dislocation risks based on the position of an implant’s components, according to the company. When the software is used, it offers an initial plan for the size and position of the implant components based on the patient’s 3D data and anatomical model, it says.
