# EUA Sought for Fluvoxamine as Covid Treatment

University of Minnesota researchers have submitted an emergency use authorization application for fluvoxamine (Luvox and others), a generic antidepressant that they believe could be used as a Covid-19 treatment. *MedPage Today* [reports](ttps://www.medpagetoday.com/special-reports/exclusives/96431) that the researchers have been investigating fluvoxamine and other repurposed drugs.

They said they prepared the application themselves because no major drug company would want to put the effort into a generic drug.

The researchers say that two controlled trials support the use of fluvoxamine in Covid cases.
