Ex-Clinical Study Manager Sentenced to 30 Months

The Southern District of Florida federal court has sentenced former clinical study coordinator Duniel Tejeda to 30 months in prison for his participation in a conspiracy to falsify clinical drug trial data. The court also ordered Tejeda to pay $2.1 million in restitution.

According to a Justice Department release, Tejeda worked as a project and study manager for clinical research firm Tellus Clinical Research. Tejeda admitted that he agreed with others to falsify data in clinical trial medical records. “Among other things, Tejeda falsified data to make it appear as though subjects were participating in the trials when, in truth, they were not,” the government contends. It says FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations is still investigating the case.
