# Ex-FDA Chief Counsel Joins Berkley Research

Former FDA chief counsel (2001-2004) **Dan Troy** has joined Berkeley Research Group (BRG) in the firm’s Washington, DC office as a managing director in its Health Analytics practice. At BRG, Troy will “provide senior-level expertise in FDA regulatory matters and bolster the practice’s ability to address FDA issues on behalf of clients,” according to a press release.

After leaving FDA, Troy returned to private practice for three years at Sidley Austin. In 2008, he began a 10-year career at GlaxoSmithKline as general counsel. Most recently, he served four years as the chief legal officer of Valo Health, which uses machine learning algorithms and patient data to provide insights at every step of the drug discovery and development process.
