Ex-FDA Head Califf Moves Full-time at Alphabet

Former FDA commissioner Robert Califf has accepted a full-time role at Alphabet Company as the head of medical strategy and policy for Google Health and Verily Life Sciences units. Califf left FDA 1/2017 after president Trump took office and returned to Duke University as vice chancellor for data sciences for Duke Health and director of Duke Forge. At the same time, he accepted a part-time senior management team position at Verily Life Sciences, splitting his time evenly between his responsibilities at Duke and Verily. Califf will remain on faculty at Duke University as an adjunct professor in the School of Medicine.
