The Alliance for Natural Health USA is asking FDA to issue a regulation requiring all makers of proton pump inhibitors for humans to expand the existing label Warnings to include information about an increased risk of pneumonia. The group’s [petition](https://www.regulations.gov/contentStreamer?documentId=FDA-2020-P-1540-0001&attachmentNumber=1&contentType=pdf&ref=fdaweb.com) says “the causes of PPI-associated pneumonia are believed to be multifactorial, but stem from compromising the stomach’s ‘acid mantle,’ which protects against pathogenic bacteria.”
