Farley Appointed FDA Antimicrobial Products Director

CDER Office of Antimicrobial Products (OAP) deputy director John Farley has been appointed permanent director. He had been serving as acting director since 8/2019 when former director Edward Cox left the agency to join Regeneron as regulatory affairs vice president. Cox had served as OAP director since 2006, after serving as its deputy director since 2003. Farley previously served as a University of Maryland School of Medicine faculty member. He had also directed the Pediatric AIDS Program, the Center for Clinical Trials, and the AIDS Care and Treatment in Nigeria (ACTION) Project. He trained at the George Washington University School of Medicine, the Children’s National Medical Center, and the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Farley joined FDA in 2009.
