# FDA Accepts Anacor NDA for Atopic Dermatitis

> FDA has accepted for review an Anacor Pharmaceuticals NDA for crisaborole topical ointment, 2%, a non-steroidal topical anti-inflammatory phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE-4) inhibitor for treating mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis in children and adults. The agency has set a user fee review target date of 1/7/2017\. The submission is based on data from two Phase 3 pivotal studies where crisaborole achieved statistically significant results on all primary and secondary endpoints and demonstrated a safety profile consistent with previous studies. Anacor says crisaborole is a novel boron-containing small molecule that it believes inhibits PDE-4 in target cells, which reduces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines thought to cause the signs and symptoms of atopic dermatitis.
