FDA Accepts Sandoz ANDA for Generic Advair Diskus

FDA has accepted for review a Sandoz ANDA for fluticasone propionate/salmeterol in combination, a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline’s Advair Diskus. The product is indicated for treating asthma in patients aged four years and older, in addition to providing maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction and reducing exacerbations in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Sandoz notes it acquired Oriel Therapeutics in 2010 that provided additional expertise in developing orally inhaled medicines.
