# FDA Adds Answers to Laboratory Controls Guidance

FDA has added three additional questions and answers to the [laboratory control section](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/guidances-drugs/questions-and-answers-current-good-manufacturing-practices-laboratory-controls?utm%5Fcampaign=SBIA%3A%20Publication%20of%20Level%202%20guidance%20revision%3A%20Questions%20and%20Answers&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=Eloqua) of the questions and answers on current good manufacturing practices guidance. The added questions and answers cover instrument calibration standards for chromatographic systems, system suitability, and trial injections. The agency says that it is essential that analytical procedures are correct and strictly followed in laboratory testing to verify the quality of drugs before introduction into the market or further manufacture. The accuracy of tests results relies on appropriate use of standards and prepared samples in executing the test method, it says, and the questions and answers are intended to make clear how standards and samples should and should not be used for chromatographic testing.
