# FDA Adds Medical Device Cybersecurity Standard

FDA has recognized the UL 2900-1 cybersecurity standard for medical devices, according to Emergo Group. In an online [post](https://www.emergogroup.com/print/blog/2017/08/fda-adds-ul-2900-medical-device-cybersecurity-list-recognized-standards?action&ref=fdaweb.com), the company says that the standard covers general cybersecurity requirements for network-connectable devices. According to Emergo, FDA medical device applicants may declare conformity to UL 2900-1 to address cybersecurity requirements as part of their medical device registration. The standard is said to cover evaluations and tests of network-connectable devices in terms of vulnerabilities, malware, and software weaknesses.
