FDA Adds Medline to List of Closed Device Sterilizers

FDA says it is aware that the Medline Industries medical device ethylene oxide sterilization facility, in Waukegan, IL, has been closed since 12/13/19. An update to the agency’s ethylene oxide sterilization Web page says FDA “understands this was a voluntary stop in operations to finish construction on emissions reduction equipment to bring the facility in line with ethylene oxide exposure standards Illinois approved last year. FDA is currently in discussions with Medline to determine the potential impact on device availability.”
