FDA Advisors Support Victoza sNDA

Members of the FDA Endocrinologic and Metabolic Drugs Advisory Committee voted 19-0 that the results of the LEADER trial establish that use of Novo Nordisk’s Victoza (liraglutide) in patients with Type 2 diabetes is not associated with excess cardiovascular risk. The 10/2016 sNDA requested inclusion of the LEADER cardiovascular outcomes data in the Victoza label.

The committee also voted 17-2 that the trial provides the substantial evidence needed to establish that Victoza 1.8 mg injection reduces cardiovascular risk in patients with Type 2 diabetes.
