‘FDA Ain’t Broke, Doesn’t Need Fixin’’ — Pines

Arguing that the drug industry “is as heavily regulated as it gets,” APCO Worldwide president of health care and former FDA associate commissioner for public affairs Wayne Pines urged the Trump White House 2/24 to heed industry advice and spare the agency the brunt of its government-wide deregulation. Writing under the headline “FDA Ain’t Broke, Doesn’t Need Fixin’” in Morning Consult, Pines said “any fixes ordered by the new administration could cause damage by removing the endorsement that insurers and doctors need to assure the value of pharmaceutical products.”

Although Pines confined his op-ed to effects on the drug industry, the same could be said of the other industries regulated by FDA.
