FDA Allows Extended Expiry Dates for Epinephrine Injection

FDA has alerted health care professionals and patients about two-month expiry date extensions on some epinephrine auto-injectors, .15 mg and 0.30 mg, distributed by Impax Generics. The extensions were granted due to intermittent supply interruptions involving the products. “To help ensure patient safety, these products should have been — and should continue to be — stored as labeled,” an agency notice says. The extension were based on stability data provided by Impax and reviewed by FDA.
