FDA and FTC Warn CBD Marketer

FDA and FTC have posted a joint Warning Letter to Rooted Apothecary (Naples, Florida) for illegally selling unapproved products containing cannabidiol online that made unsubstantiated claims for treating teething pain and ear aches in infants, autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, among other conditions or diseases. The company, according to an FDA notice, used product Web pages and social media sites to make the unfounded claims. It also says that some products were unlawfully marketed as dietary supplements. “The agency has determined that CBD products cannot be marketed as dietary supplements,” it adds.
