FDA has approved Recordati Rare Diseases’ Cystadrops (cysteamine ophthalmic solution) 0.37%, a viscous eye drop solution that depletes corneal cystine crystal deposits in people living with cystinosis. The company [says](https://www.marketwatch.com/press-release/us-fda-approves-cystadrops-cysteamine-ophthalmic-solution-037-a-new-practical-treatment-option-for-the-ocular-manifestations-of-cystinosis-2020-08-25?tesla=y&ref=fdaweb.com) that Cystadrops demonstrated a significant reduction in cystine crystal deposits in the cornea of the eye and is the only FDA-approved crysteamine drop with four-times-a-day dosing.

The agency’s approval of the drug was supported by data from two clinical trials.
