FDA Approves Element Science Wearable Defibrillator

FDA has approved Element Science’s PMA for the Jewel Patch Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator. A company statement says the product “combines the principles of human-centered design with the latest advancements in machine learning.”

The Jewel Patch is described as a novel, water-resistant wearable cardioverter defibrillator designed to detect and treat life-threatening arrhythmias in patients with a temporary elevated risk for sudden cardiac arrest. The device is said to continuously monitor a patient’s heart and treat specific life-threatening rhythms. It is designed for continued protection during normal daily activities, including showering, sleeping, and moderate exercise, the company says.
