FDA Approves Nexus Pharmaceuticals’ Generic Nitropress

FDA has approved a Nexus Pharmaceuticals ANDA for generic sodium nitroprusside injection, indicated for the immediate reduction of blood pressure of adult and pediatric patients in hypertensive crisis. The product is also indicated for producing controlled hypotension in order to reduce bleeding during surgery and for the treatment of acute congestive heart failure. It is available as a single dose vial containing 50 mg per 2mL (25mg/mL) and is an AP-rated generic equivalent of Valeant’s Nitropress.
