FDA Approves Saxenda Label Update on CV Risk

FDA has approved an updated label for Novo Nordisk’s weight management drug Saxenda (liraglutide) injection 3 mg to add data from the LEADER trial showing that liraglutide 1.8 mg in another product did not increase the risk of major cardiovascular (CV) events in adults with Type 2 diabetes and established CV disease.

The company says Saxenda is an injectable prescription medicine that may help some adults with excess weight who also have weight-related medical problems or obesity lose weight and keep it off. It should be used with a reduced calorie meal plan and increased physical activity and is not indicated for treating Type 2 diabetes.
