FDA Approves Stelara in Pediatric Psoriatic Arthritis

FDA has approved Janssen’s Stelara (ustekinumab) for treating pediatric patients six years of age and older with active psoriatic arthritis. The human monoclonal antibody is said to work by selectively inhibiting both interleukin (IL)-12 and IL-23, two cytokines thought to play a role in tempering the overactive inflammatory response in several autoimmune diseases. Stelara is administered subcutaneously four times per year after two starter doses in pediatric patients, according to the company.
