FDA Approves Teva’s Austedo for Tardive Dyskinesia

FDA has approved a Teva Pharmaceutical Industries NDA for Austedo (deutetrabenazine) tablets for treating tardive dyskinesia in adults. Previously, the product was approved for treating chorea associated with Huntington’s disease. The latest approval was based on data from two Phase 3 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, studies (AIM-TD and ARM-TD) assessing the drug’s efficacy and safety in reducing the severity of abnormal involuntary movements associated with tardive dyskinesia.
