FDA Approves UCB Epilepsy Drug for Children

FDA has approved a UCB supplemental NDA for Briviact (brivaracetam) CV oral formulations indicated as monotherapy and adjunctive therapy in treating partial onset (focal) seizures in patients age four years and older. The expanded indication is based on extrapolation of efficacy data from adults to children, and is supported by safety and pharmacokinetic data collected in children. Pediatric epilepsy is the most common, serious neurological disorder among children and young adults, affecting nearly 470, 000 children in the U.S, the company says.
