FDA Approves VNS Therapy Systems for Expanded MRI Scans

FDA has approved LivaNova’s VNS Therapy systems for expanded MRI labeling, allowing patients to visit any MRI center in the U.S. and have access to more than 90% of scans routinely performed on patients with epilepsy. Previously, approved labeling allowed patients to obtain MRI scans only with the use of special MRI equipment that was not readily accessible, according to the company. The device is indicated for use as an adjunctive therapy in reducing the frequency of seizures in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age with partial onset seizures that are refractory to antiepileptic medications.
