# FDA Authorizes Kids’ Pfizer Covid Vaccine Booster

FDA has amended the emergency use authorization granted for the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine to authorize the use of a single booster dose in children 5-11 years old. The booster shot is to be given at least five months after completion of a primary series with the vaccine, according to an agency [notice](https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USFDA/bulletins/3182bf6?ref=fdaweb.com).

The notice says the agency authorization is based on FDA’s analysis of immune response data in a subset of children from the ongoing pediatric study that supported the 10/2021 authorization of the primary series in the 5-11 age group.
