# FDA Authorizes Parkinson’s Stem Cell Trial

FDA has authorized Hope Biosciences Stem Cell Research Foundation to conduct a Phase 2 trial to assess the efficacy and safety of multiple intravenous infusions of autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells to improve activities of daily living and quality of life in patients with Parkinson’s disease. The company [says](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20210428005370/en/?ref=fdaweb.com) 24 patients will be randomized to receive six intravenous infusions of 200 million stem cells each. It will be the first trial globally to administer pure adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells to Parkinson’s patients in such high quantities over repeat treatments.
