# FDA Authorizes Updated Novavax Covid Vaccine

A week after granting competitors Moderna and Pfizer marketing authorization for their updated monovalent Covid-19 mRNA vaccines, FDA has granted an emergency use authorization for an updated version of Novavax’s Covid-19 vaccine that more closely targets currently circulating variants to protect against serious Covid-19-related disease, including hospitalization and death.
