# FDA Clears Breast Lesion Finder

FDA has cleared a Faxitron 510(k) for the [LOCalizer](http://cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.faxitron.com%2Flocalizer.html&esheet=51550093&newsitemid=20170428005968&lan=en-US&anchor=LOCalizer%E2%84%A2&index=1&md5=33fd1da84618f55b31f6ec5f9b640962&ref=fdaweb.com), a wireless radiofrequency identification (RFID) breast lesion localization system. The device uses a non-radioactive, proprietary tag as a marker to enable surgeons to remove the correct area of breast tissue during a procedure. The tag can be implanted up to 30 days before surgery and is detected by a mobile, handheld reader that accurately locates it within millimeters, the company says.
