# FDA Clears Canon’s Advanced CT Image Quality

FDA has cleared a Canon Medical Systems 510(k) for its Advanced Intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE) for use on the [Aquilion Precision CT Scanner. ](https://cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=https%3A%2F%2Fus.medical.canon%2Fproducts%2Fcomputed-tomography%2Faquilion-precision%2F&esheet=52113701&newsitemid=20191021005047&lan=en-US&anchor=Aquilion+PrecisionTM&index=2&md5=7e829c80a3929fe0820eb241eaa65202&ref=fdaweb.com)The device uses a deep learning algorithm to differentiate signal from noise for computed tomography (CT) image reconstruction. Its ultra-high resolution CT provides two times the resolution of conventional CT, the company says. “With AiCE, the system now enables clinicians to perform super-high resolution studies at doses equivalent to standard resolution CT (with traditional hybrid iterative reconstruction techniques),” it adds.
