FDA Clears CurveBeam CT Scanning System

FDA has cleared a CurveBeam 510(k) for InReach, a cone beam computed tomography imaging system designed for the hand, wrist, elbow and lower extremities in non-weight bearing position. The device provides high-contrast 3D datasets of bony anatomy, which could potentially replace radiographs as a first line diagnosis, according to the company. “The InReach is designed with patient comfort in mind,” it says. A patient’s hand, wrist or elbow can be positioned in a height-adjustable bore while in standing or sitting position, and scan times are said to be less than 30 seconds.
