FDA Clears Embecta Disposable Insulin Patch Pump

FDA has cleared an Embecta 510(k) for its proprietary Disposable Patch Pump for Insulin Delivery, intended for use by adults who require insulin to manage diabetes, including Type 1 and Type 2. The device features a tubeless patch pump design with a 300-unit insulin reservoir, which was designed based on feedback from people with Type 2 diabetes and their healthcare providers, the company says.

The wearable and disposable patch pump provides adjustable basal and bolus insulin for up to three days, depending on user needs, Embecta says. Its 300-unit insulin reservoir accommodates people who have higher daily insulin needs, it says. The device also features a locked-down controller with Bluetooth wireless technology and a color touchscreen, it adds.
