# FDA Clears GE Ultra Edition for Vivid Ultrasound

FDA has cleared a GE Healthcare 510(k) for the Ultra Edition package on its Vivid cardiovascular ultrasound systems, which includes new features based on artificial intelligence (AI) that helps clinicians acquire faster, more repeatable exams consistently. The device features AI Auto Measure Spectrum Recognition which can detect the appropriate measurement of spectral Doppler images, and AI Auto Measure 2D that can detect the relevant points in an image used to make key measurements of the left ventricle. , performing comparable to human users with 100% reproducibility. “High quality data acquisition and operator skill are key elements to achieve accurate and complete exams,” the company says. “And, as patients undergo subsequent monitoring exams, the reproducibility of exam assessments is key to identifying improvement or disease progression.”
