FDA Clears NinePoint Real-time Image Segmentation

FDA has cleared a NinePoint Medical 510(k) to market its Intelligent Real-time Image Segmentation software upgrade for its NvisionVLE Imaging System. The artificial intelligence-based platform for image feature segmentation is intended for use in imaging esophageal tissue. The imaging system allows physicians to perform a volumetric laser endomicroscopy procedure that produces real-time, high-resolution cross-sectional images, the company says. “This system enables gastroenterologists to thoroughly evaluate the esophageal tissue surface and sub-surface for potential disease that may not be visible with conventional medical imaging technologies such as endoscopy and ultrasound,” it says.
