# FDA Clears Varian Microwave Ablation

FDA has cleared a Varian 510(k) for its IntelliBlate microwave ablation system, intended for ablating soft tissue. “IntelliBlate produces large, controlled spherical ablation zones,” the company says, adding that the device has the option to utilize single or dual probes, with each having linked or independent controls. The device also features real-time monitoring and treatment information at the tissue level, Varian says. It adds that it plans to introduce “intelligent therapeutic technologies and image-guided innovations in a single platform” in the future to give physicians greater predictability of probe placement, treatment delivery, and procedural confirmation.
