# FDA Clears VideaHealth Dental Cavity AI Algorithm

FDA has given 510(k) clearance to a VideaHealth artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm that the company says can help dentists identify cavities in patient X-rays. *Fierce Biotech* [says](https://www.fiercebiotech.com/medtech/fda-plays-tooth-fairy-awarding-clearance-videahealths-cavity-spotting-ai?ref=fdaweb.com) that company data submitted to FDA to support the clearance said the AI helped reduce the number of caries lesions dentists missed by 43%. It reportedly also reduced incorrect diagnoses by about 15%.
