FDA Computed PDUFA Fees Accurately: OIG

The HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) says FDA computed PDUFA rates paid by drug companies accurately. An OIG audit report says the office obtained and reviewed documentation from FDA such as policies and procedures and financial records to determine whether it accurately computed prescription drug user fee rates. It also analyzed prescription drug user fee collection amounts, limiting its review to $821.9 million in PDUFA collections reported for 10/1/14 through 9/30/15.

“FDA computed prescription drug user fee rates accurately,” the report concludes. “We determined that the human drug review workload computation was appropriate. We also determined that the inflation adjustment for personnel compensation and benefits and non-personnel compensation and benefits were correctly computed. Accordingly, this report contains no recommendations.”
