# FDA Defers Action on Avastin Biosimilar

FDA has deferred action on a Mylan/Biocon BLA for a proposed biosimilar of Genentech’s Avastin (bevacizumab). The agency accepted the BLA in 3/2020 with a planned action date of 12/27/20, according to a OneLive [report](https://www.onclive.com/view/fda-defers-action-on-bla-for-bevacizumab-biosimilar-myl-1402o?ref=fdaweb.com). The delay reportedly came because FDA was unable to complete an inspection of a manufacturing facility due to travel restrictions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. No additional observations associated with the application were noted, the report says.

The agency already has approved two Avastin biosimilars — Amgen’s Mvasi and Pfizer’s Zirabev.
