FDA Denies ICAN Covid Vaccine Petition

FDA has denied a 5/20 petition submitted by the Informed Consent Action Network relating to emergency use authorizations for and development of vaccines to prevent Covid-19. The petition asked that FDA:

revoke its 5/10/21 emergency use authorization for the use of Pfizer/BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 12 through 15;
refrain from authorizing Moderna’s current Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 12 through 17; and
require T-cell assessment from Covid-19 vaccine developers as a measure of evaluating vaccine efficacy.

The agency's 58-page letter says FDA concluded that the petition does not contain facts demonstrating any reasonable grounds for the requested actions and thus the petition was denied.
