FDA Device Shortage List During Covid-19

FDA has posted a device shortage list which was mandated as part of the recent coronavirus-related CARES Act. The listing reflects devices that FDA has determined to be in shortage and will be updated as the Covid-19 pandemic evolves. In addition, the agency includes a listing of medical devices for which the FDA has been notified that manufacturing has been permanently discontinued. FDA regulations require manufacturers of certain devices to notify the agency about an interruption or permanent discontinuance in manufacturing. The shortage list contains 20 device categories currently in short supply, such as personal protection equipment, testing supplies, and ventilation-related equipment.
