FDA Extends Shelf Life on Baxter IV Products

FDA has approved shelf life extensions on certain Baxter Healthcare intravenous solutions that are in short supply after hurricanes limited production in Puerto Rico (see earlier story). The agency says it is not requiring or recommending that the identified products be relabeled with their new use dates. “However, if replacement product becomes available during the extension period, then it is expected that the lots in these tables will be replaced and properly disposed of as soon as possible,” an FDA notice says.
